Miners Lamp w/Gimbal - Antique Brass - 8.5"

Miners Lamp - 8.5"

A miners lamp was originally used in the coal mining industry. This is a real authentic Victorian-era, coal miners lamp with 160 years of years of history behind it. Nowadays they are often used as boat lamps or wall oil lamps in the home.

It doesn’t get any darker than a coal mine. In a mine, you can hold your hand directly in front of your face, and not see it. Providing enough light for miners to work was a major obstacle in the early years of the industry. For domestic use only, these are not intended as working miner's safety lamps, but are beautifully made for non-miner customers and have the fundamental look and feel of the original model.

They are heavy, beautifully machined solid antique brass and glass. Very wind resistant. The gimbal (wall mount) allows for the 8.5" model lantern to be mounted to any vertical surface, great as boat oil lamps as well. Real Antique finish. Use ordinary lantern oil

Gimbal (wall mount) Included
