Mining Lamp - Brass - 10.5"

Mining Lamp - 10.5"

The mining lamp was originally used in the coal mining industry. This is a real authentic brass Victorian-era, coal mining lamp with 160 years of history behind it. Nowadays it is often used as a boat lamp or wall oil lamp in the home.

It doesn’t get any darker than a coal mine. In a mine, you can hold your hand directly in front of your face, and not see it. Providing enough light for miners to work was a major obstacle in the early years of the industry.

For domestic use only, these are not intended as working miner's safety light, but are beautifully made for non-miner customers and have the essential look and feel of the real thing. They are heavy, beautifully machined solid brass and glass. Very wind resistant.

Use ordinary oil for these lanterns
