So what about our lanterns? Not all lanterns are made equally. Vermont Lanterns Brand are made of solid brass and we do not have any brass plated tin models. Go ahead, do the magnet test it won’t stick! Many of our lanterns are made in India, others are made right here in the USA or imported from Europe. We travel frequently to meet with our producers in India and work directly with them on adjustments and our exclusive model designs. Our factory there is small in scale, has a mature and dedicated work force, and pays their people a living wage. Every lantern we offer is a meticulously handmade brass handicraft. They do not come from a big factory mechanized process, churning out products in monotonous work conditions. There is a personality and a person behind each piece. The lantern you see is the handwork of a craftsman who takes pride in his profession.
The earth’s ecosystem and natural resources are not impervious to abuse and overuse, and it’s important to do as much as we can to preserve this precious place. Our lifestyle choices very much affect the quality of life for all those generations to come. Keeping this in mind, we do whatever we can within our business to cut down on our ‘carbon’ footprint, and the senseless waste that can go on within a larger company. We use packing material from recycled and biodegradable materials and our warehouse is highly energy efficient.
